iPhone has millions of users around the world. These phones are used not only for normal calling functions, but also for storing crucial information such as mails, presentations, documents and even account numbers. People have got so used to their smartphones or iPhones that they prefer to use them rather than in their laptops. When so crucial information is saved in the iPhones, it becomes equally important to save their data or create a backup to ensure that the data is not lost or damaged in case of unforeseen circumstances. Thankfully, there are multiple ways to create a backup of data in iPhone 5S, 5C or 5. Mentioned below are three of these methods.
Backing up using iTunes
iTunes is a mobile device management application developed by Apple, Inc. The app can be used as a media library and a medium to transfer information from iOS to Microsoft Windows operating systems. iTunes can also be used to create a backup for your iPhone devices. If you try to create a backup of your files through iTunes, it will not only save the files, but also contacts, app data, messages, settings, and even the images clicked from the camera.
To create a backup using iTunes, connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable. iPhones have special connectors, so you cannot use other USB cables. Buy the one specially meant for iPhones. Once connected, open iTunes app in the computer.
Open the summary tab and click on “Back Up Now
” in the Manually Backup and Restore section. iTunes will now save the phone’s data in an image file, and it will be saved in the computer. To restore the backup, follow the same procedure, except that in this case, you click on the “Restore Backup” button.Backing up to iCloud
iCloud creates an automatic backup of camera roll, accounts, documents and settings when the phone is connected to internet. It offers 5 GB of free storage. The iCloud backup can be turned on by opening the same from the settings menu in the home screen and to create a backup it must be connected to wireless network and power source.
“Manage storage” section helps the users to understand which apps are backed up and how much storage is available. To restore the content, start the setup assistant of the new phone and restore the data using your Apple ID.
If restore is required to be done in the current device, go to reset and tap on “Erase all Content and Settings” and choose to restore from iCloud backup option.
Backing up via Apps
In addition to the above ways to create a backup for data in iPhones, there are multiple apps available which can do this job for you. There are free as well as paid apps available. Before downloading these apps, make sure of its trustworthiness by going through the reviews.
